My son wants to go out of town in the fall in order to attend school, but my husband & I (OK, just me) would rather he not as the extra costs associated with attending an out of town school will mean that my husband & I (OK, just me) wont be able to live in style to which we, I, we, I am accustomed to living in. How should I manage this situation?
Linda,
You go girl! A sure fire way to get started on changing you son's decision on schools is to make sure he understands how little money you will provide for that ungrateful rat's child's out of town adventure. A good starting point is something along the lines of "I am going to make sure you have such little money, you'll be eating Kraft dinner every night". This line will be especially effective if used right after a large discretionary fiscal expenditure. Try it out and let me know how it goes. I have heard that it works
