Shoe store reviews

  • David's shoe store - Toronto
A true shoe conoisseur never misses a chance to walk through David's on Bloor Street. Highlight: Their seasonal sales are a great time to stock up on fabulous buys. I scored a fabulous pair of Yves St. Laurent boots at one of their sales at half off the original $1000 ticket price. Drawback: You can sometimes find the same shoes elsehwere for a better price. That being said, David's service and insight is unparelled.

Part I: Boots that you should not pass over

for Passover.

So for any of you gentile girls who happen to score an invitation to a Passover Seder (click here to learn a little bit about the Passover Seder), be prepared for an inquisition from other, older females at the meal along the lines of:

"Oye Gevalt, you have such a beautiful nose.  Who did it for you?"

"Are you single, I have a son/grandson that would be perfect for you, he's a doctor."

"Kristine, now that is an usual name for a Jewish girl"

"Oh, you aren't Jewish, such a shame, my doctor son only dates Jewish girls."

"My other son, the 'aspiring fashion designer' dates girls like you."

Lesilla So now that you know you may be in for a little bit of "catty Jewish guilt", you need some shoes that will make your hosts "plotz", Shoelover suggest something along the lines of the Lesilla 50297.  While at a little less than $1100, these boots are far from cheap, they will earn you the title of the "shayner shiksa".  As a primer, you may want to get a hold of Rachel Sklar and see if she will let you take a peak at her new work, JEW-ISH, the essential guide to shiksas, latkes, and why there are so many ways to spell Chanukah

Stay tuned for Part II

xoxo
