Shoe store reviews

  • David's shoe store - Toronto
A true shoe conoisseur never misses a chance to walk through David's on Bloor Street. Highlight: Their seasonal sales are a great time to stock up on fabulous buys. I scored a fabulous pair of Yves St. Laurent boots at one of their sales at half off the original $1000 ticket price. Drawback: You can sometimes find the same shoes elsehwere for a better price. That being said, David's service and insight is unparelled.

For those of you who seem to think

that silly things like regular exercise and a healthy diet aren't really the way to a healthier way of life, than the Cobblestone Mat may be Quackpadjust what you are looking for:

The Cobblestone Mat is proven to improve your health.Take a barefoot walk on a Cobblestone Mat Walkway (also known as the Cobblestone Walkway) for foot reflexology and a great foot massage! Improve balance and circulation while reducing blood-pressure through daily practice of this simple, low impact exercise.

Cobblestone walking is an ancient health enhancing practice that has been known in China for thousands of years. Cobblestone walkways or foot reflexology parks exist all over China and are utilized by young and old for their health and meditative benefits...

Of course this ignores the basic fact that the average life span in China is about 73 years (71 years for men, 75 years for women) while in the US the average life span is 78 years (75.6 for men and almost 81 for women.  You would think that the marketers of this product would have at least found some way to spin this as a Japanese tradition, as their average life expectancy is 82.6 years............but what does Shoelover know.

MFA hopes eclectic shoes, paired with some classic works, bring more foot traffic

By Suzanne C. Ryan, Globe Staff  |  September 27, 2007

When art enthusiasts visit the Museum of Fine Arts, they often make a beeline for the Egyptian mummies or the Monet paintings. Ceramic pots from the late 6th century B.C. are easy to skip. But maybe mixing a little pop culture with history will make a difference.

As part of the museum's ongoing effort to drive more visitors through all of its collections, the museum today is launching "Walk This Way," an exhibit styled like a treasure hunt that pairs eclectic shoes - from Red Sox Nike cleats to sandals worn by Marilyn Monroe  - with art work in the building.

The Monroe sandals are encased next to an Andy Warhol screen print of the actress. Jeweled sandals by Bernardo from the 1960s stand next to a second-century stone statue of an Indian bodhisattva, a religious figure whose braided thong sandals look familiar.

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — A man pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing more than 1,500 pairs of girls' shoes from area schools in a deal that calls for prosecutors to recommend probation.

Erik D. Heinrich, 26, of Kenosha pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary and was scheduled for sentencing Oct. 23.

Nike Designs Shoe for American Indians

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) — Nike on Tuesday unveiled what it said is the first shoe designed specifically for American Indians, an effort aiming at promoting physical fitness in a population with high obesity rates.

The Beaverton-based company says the Air Native N7 is designed with a larger fit for the distinct foot shape of American Indians, and has a culturally specific look. It will be distributed solely to American Indians; tribal wellness programs and tribal schools nationwide will be able to purchase the shoe at wholesale price and then pass it along to individuals, often at no cost (continued...)

State natives tend high-end cows of men behind Manolo Blahnik USA

By KATHERINE M. SKIBA

Harrisburg, Pa - She's a kept woman - a showgirl - living large on the East Coast thanks to the fortunes of Manolo Blahnik shoes.

It must be said she's never worn a pair of the mile-high stilettos.

She's a cow.

Vivian, a 9-year-old Holstein, makes her home at a showcase cattle farm begun in recent years by the two men who own Manolo Blahnik USA.

She took a blue ribbon Thursday at a dairy show here and visits Madison Oct. 2 to 6 for the World Dairy Expo, which bills itself as "the international meeting place for dairy."

That a wildly successful shoe merchant - whose product was made famous thanks to TV's "Sex and the City" - found a Midas touch in a different realm is simple, as he tells it.

Fifty-three-year-old George Malkemus, president and co-owner of Manolo Blahnik USA, said it's about a passion, hiring the right people and listening to them.

Some of his top people are Wisconsin-bred experts who were reared on the state's dairy farms and educated in its schools.

"Passion becomes the first thing in both of my businesses, whether it's a new collection I'm selling to Neiman-Marcus or talking to Ernie about a bull or selling semen," Malkemus said Friday (continued...)

Shoe Stor....You Suck

A customer writes in via Email:

"Your web site leaves much to be desired.

If you took the time to hire a financially knowledgeable company to put your web site together, you’d know that AMEX does not use the three-digit code you ask for in the payment section of your web page (here is a link to the CVN explanation from Shoe Stor's payment processor on the check out page)  .

So, like an idiot, I kept putting in a number that you can’t process anyway. How many sales do you lose by being so technically incompetent?

If you can’t get the financials right, what does that say about your product?

You should invest some money to clean up your internet act."

While Shoelover disagrees with some of the content and comments in this email, especially the AMEX code issue, as we dont process payments directly on our site due to security issues and our payment processor is pretty clear about the CVN number variations, Shoelover would love to get some feedback from its serfs and plebes customers and readers about Shoe Stor's  website.  Email Shoe Stor directly and if you arent too insulting, like this fine fellow, you may just find your advice taken and maybe rewarded.  Email Shoelover at Shoelover@clear-shoe-boxes.com.
