Let's face it, technology is cool, but like everything else in life, there is a limit to its coolness and much like the Fonz, technology or rather the love of infatuation of technology, can jump the shark.
One only has to look at Gizmodo and its evil arch nemesis, Engadget, to know that some people love technology for the sake of the technology itself, and not the benefits it can provide (see this little example). I mean, I have yet to see one of these blogs show me how to hack a cellphone so that its vibrating mode can be set to last a for a few minutes (it is a little distracting to have to keep calling yourself from another phone over and over again). You show me this and maybe your raging geek factor will be cut down a bit.
Until then, I am sticking with Popgadget. It just shows me cool stuff. It doesn't over analyze them or show me how to build a combination blender/vacuum from the inner guts of a 1950 RCA TV.
Yes, I do have a geek inside of me, I just don't wear it on my sleeve.
