Shoe store reviews

  • David's shoe store - Toronto
A true shoe conoisseur never misses a chance to walk through David's on Bloor Street. Highlight: Their seasonal sales are a great time to stock up on fabulous buys. I scored a fabulous pair of Yves St. Laurent boots at one of their sales at half off the original $1000 ticket price. Drawback: You can sometimes find the same shoes elsehwere for a better price. That being said, David's service and insight is unparelled.

Shoes for a half marathon.....

Hightrainer_140x125 Shoelover wonders what sort of time one could run in these

But having said that, Shoelover would much prefer these with extra propulsion
Rocket

Or may some of these rocket boots from the world Rocketboots famous shoe company.....MIT

Shoelover is thinking that Team Shoe Stor may need to bring in a ringer for the race tomorrow.

Shoelover would have called it....

"Air Geronimo", but really, what does Shoelover know?

Nike Designs Shoe for American Indians

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) — Nike on Tuesday unveiled what it said is the first shoe designed specifically for American Indians, an effort aiming at promoting physical fitness in a population with high obesity rates.

The Beaverton-based company says the Air Native N7 is designed with a larger fit for the distinct foot shape of American Indians, and has a culturally specific look. It will be distributed solely to American Indians; tribal wellness programs and tribal schools nationwide will be able to purchase the shoe at wholesale price and then pass it along to individuals, often at no cost (continued...)

and while we are on the subject of Nike and its giant PR machine.....

Nike's 14-year-old shoe designer

The Corvallis Gazette-Times writes about 14-year-old Alice Heinz, who teamed up with Nike to produce a shoe to benefit Portland's Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

Heinz has been receiving treatment at Doernbecher's since she was very young. When she was a baby she was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder which causes tumors to grow. With the help of doctors and surgeons at Doernbecher's, Heinz has been fighting off malignant brain tumors since she was 5 years old (continued...)

Spring has Sprung (Flower Power)...

501_marg_new And its time for Shoelover to get Shoelover's butt back in shape - Shoelover is still recovering from 8 too many margaritas in Mexico last month (excuse me bartender, did you say these margaritas were made with low-cal alcohol - Shoelover could have sworn they were).

So what is Shoelover to do.

Uhm, how about get some clothing for starters!  Shoelover has Shoelover's510_yello_margarita eyes set on Margarita activewear.  Given Shoelover's proclivity for destroying work out clothing, this stuff is designed for Shoelover as it won't wrinkle, shrink or fade, so it will stay new looking for a very long time. Also, it will never fuzz or pill (plus it sort of stands out in a crowd, not that Shoelover needs the help).

What is even better is that Shoelover know one of the owners of the company (they went to high school together back in the 80's, you should see the hair pictures) so while all of you are paying retail, Shoelover is paying wholesale!!!!

PS - Shoelover will claim to Shoelover's dying days that Shoelover was the model for these pictures.....

Shoe Shoes...

Shoeontheroad everywhere!!!!

It's certainly wasn't a sight one sees every day.

Scores of shoes - mostly tennis shoes - littered a portion of eastbound Interstate 10 Thursday, causing an after-work rush hour slow down just east of Date Palm Drive, according to witnesses and the California Highway Patrol (continued...) - The Desert Sun

Pee Wee's Shoes

Gayshoes While one can wonder if Pee Wee Herman got his stage moniker from a former girlfriend, one need not worry what sort of shoes he would wear if he ever decided to take up skateboarding - the Pee Wee Herman Dunks SB (see it...grey suit, red bowtie)

Can you imagine

Bigfnshoehow bad a running shoe this large must smell?  This Giant Sneaker stands in front of Steve Alford All-American Inn. Steve Alford is a basketball hero in New Castle. It is 14' tall, 8' wide. The hotel has a basketball theme and each room is scented to smell like a locker room (Oh wait, what is that you say, that smell wasn't done on purpose?)

Although Shoelove must admit a certain amount of weekness for the leopard print Nikes............

Thinkings

More things that Shoelover thought about while running tonight:

Shoelover loves white linen just as much as anyone else, but a word of advice to its female wearers, that unless you are going for a certain look, do not wear it in the rain.  And if you do insist on wearing it in the rain, wear underwear.  Unless you really are going for that look;

Looks like there is a rise in the incidence of Dunlop's Disease around town. Dunlop's Disease is when your stomach has "done lopped" over your belt or waist band.  While often confused with Muffin Top Syndrome, Dunlop's Disease is usually due to being, well, fat and Muffin Top Syndrome can often be the result of wearing poorly cut low rise pants.  Having said that, if you think you have a Muffin Top, change your pants.  If you suffer from Dunlop's, wear a shirt while running, at least until you go into remission.  Take heart though, neither of these are as bad as "Bureau Breakdown" - When your chest falls into your drawers.

That stich Shoelover feels in Shoelover's abdomen is just god giving Shoelover back a six pack...

xoxo

Shoelover

(4 cans short of a 6 pack)

And they are off.........

RacingspikesIs it a sale? is it a crack down on a Russian bordello?  No.........it's a race through Red Square.  Rumor has it the winner was disqualified after judges found out she was wearing out of style shoes.  While anyone who has run track knows that you need to wear track spikes, these are a little different.

Eww....Gross (no more wet shoes)

Wetshoebegone Shoelover: Are your shoes always wet?

Shoeguy: Well after running they are.  Why?

Shoelover:  I just touched them.

Shoeguy: Ya, so.

Shoelover: I need to disinfect infect my hands.  You really should try Dampire's DZ-DRYZONE to dry those bacteria breeding footwear out.  Don't you wear socks when you run?

Shoeguy: Do you wear socks with your heels?

Shoelover: What sort of question is that?

Shoeguy: Exactly........now go dry my shoes out.  Be sure to take the insole out.........it gets really slimey.

Things Shoeguy Sees

on his daily run:

Pregnant women hanging out by the liquor store;

People j-walking with babies; and

Girls wear clothes that are too tight for the public good.

Remember When

Pumanerd having a computer in your shoes, was, well, downright nerdy (Hello Nike and Apple!!!).  Take a gander at these Puma Running Shoes with a built in data gathering device.  The data from your run could then be downloaded into your Apple II.

These are definately Engadget material

Ugly, but it works

HerseyMuch like Buckley's Mixture (It Tastes Awful. And It Works),  the Hersey Custom Shoe Company in East Wilton, Maine may make some of the most god awful ugly shoes in the world.......................and they won't even let you buy a pair due to their current back log of orders.

While not cheap, customers swear by these fuggers.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder................

The AQx Aquatic Training Shoe "ATS" is great for general fitness, cross-training, deep water running, rehab and recovery.

Sneaker Pimp

Dada_code_mFor the tech geek who thinks he can play basketball, Shoelover is proud to present the "Code M" sneakers from Dada footwear that include an MP3 player, wireless headphones and built-in speakers.  The question is, does anyone who would actually buy these "shoes"  have the guts to wear them on the courts.............

Shoelove may slip these on Shoeguy's feet and send him down to the hood to see how he makes out.

I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller,
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her

Bye Bye summer

Hpim0243_3 Shoelover took the day off today...and by taking the day off I mean, I did nothing but drink copious amounts of Starbucks while walking the dog on the beach. Normally, when I walk the dog, I wear a pair of thong/flip flops but this morning it was brrr cold so I donned my running shoes. Yes, Shoelover keeps two pairs of running shoes: one in my gym locker (so it NEVER gets dirty) and the second stays near the door for those cool mornings when I need to walk the dog. This was on of those mornings. It was 12C (53F) degrees in Toronto. It warmed up as the day progressed, but it was too late -- I was too far from home to turn around and put on sandals. That being said, I sometimes prefer wearing runners on the beach -- you never know what you could step on. However, I did glance some other women in their flip flops for one last hurrah and I was jealous.

I wouldn't pine for summer so much if Toronto experienced a long, mild autumn -- which we never do. It seems to last a couple of weeks and then it snows. And snows. And snows some more. And just when you think it's going to melt, it rains and freezes into black ice that never seems to come off the bottom of the car.

So I must bid summer shoes farewell. Tomorrow, I will take all my open toed lovelies to the shoe cleaners and have them fixed up to be put away in my clear shoe boxes until the day after the snow melts. Bye bye Ferragamo, Miu Miu, Prada. Arrivederci fancy Italian pair I bought at that by-invitation-only couture sale. Sleep well. You have served me well. Tomorrow, I shall break out my Manolo sling-backs from last winter and place them on top of the clear shoe box pile. I'll start thinking of my leopard print Sandros and my favorite pair of Oscar de la Renta boots when I get dressed in the morning. My beautifully pedicured feet will hibernate for awhile. They'll be back in a few months. Until then....

xoxo Shoelover

P.S.- Okay, Shoelover lied: I do have a third pair of running shoes. They are a former dog walking pair at the back of my closet reserved for the highly unlikely scenario that I may engage in manual labor of some sort (painting, cleaning, et.) That being said, I haven't touched them in year. And for those of you that care, I wear Saucony running shoes.

Why heels are good for you!

Shoe Lover shows you why heels are better than athletic shoes!

Study: Expensive Shoes Cause Ankle Injury

Study Says Expensive Athletic Shoes Cause Ankle Injuries - ABC NEWS

March 26  Basketball can take a toll on a players' ankles. This is for certain.

But do your expensive, flashy basketball shoes play a part in tearing the ligaments, the tissues that act like a hinge, in your ankle?

Shoe Lover knows this would never happen in heels, cuz you would never break a sweat while wearing them, well almost never:)
