A customer writes in via Email:
"Your web site leaves much to be desired.
If you took the time to hire a financially knowledgeable company to put your web site together, you’d know that AMEX does not use the three-digit code you ask for in the payment section of your web page (here is a link to the CVN explanation from Shoe Stor's payment processor on the check out page) .
So, like an idiot, I kept putting in a number that you can’t process anyway. How many sales do you lose by being so technically incompetent?
If you can’t get the financials right, what does that say about your product?
You should invest some money to clean up your internet act."
While Shoelover disagrees with some of the content and comments in this email, especially the AMEX code issue, as we dont process payments directly on our site due to security issues and our payment processor is pretty clear about the CVN number variations, Shoelover would love to get some feedback from its serfs and plebes customers and readers about Shoe Stor's website. Email Shoe Stor directly and if you arent too insulting, like this fine fellow, you may just find your advice taken and maybe rewarded. Email Shoelover at Shoelover@clear-shoe-boxes.com.

Shoe Stör is in the midst of redesigning its packaging and wants some input from YOU!
Ya, that's right, someone, namely Shoelover and Shoe Stör, cares what you have to say.
Take a look at a mock up of our new label (hot off the desk of Shoe Stor's graphic designer) and let Shoe Stör know what you think - what you like, don't like, think would look better (or if you really want to sabotage Shoelover - what you think looks worse, but lie and say it would be better).
Is our logo too big? Our lettering too small? Do these pants make Shoelover's butt look fat? Our layout totally out of wack? Shoelover has some changes in mind but still wants to hear from you.
If Shoelover likes your suggestion, Shoelover will give you a pat on the back and be eternally grateful. If Shoelover doesn't like it, well, you may want to sleep with one eye open.....
So let's hear your thoughts. This is your chance to help shape your Shoelover's destiny. You can email them to Shoelover by clicking HERE

…Or try the shoe, boot and purse boxes from Shoe Stor, created by Toronto banker Joshua Kerbel. Seems Kerbel was driven to invention after impatiently watching his wife rifle through mismatched boxes in search of the perfect shoes. Kerbel’s boxes open from one end (not the top), and fold flat, which makes for easier storage if you order a bunch. Been a busy week at the Stor, Shoelover has:
xoxo
Shoelover
No, they are not shoe boxes designed for the rubenesque women, they are clear shoe boxes that are designed to accommodate up to a size 15.5 woman's shoe! Shoelover just couldn't come up with any copy that didn't make it sound like these boxes were designed for the shoes of overweight ladies (people of all dimensions can use Shoe Stor's clear shoe boxes, Shoelover doesn't discriminate based on size, color, race or sex, just style).
We tried a few other names for the box:
So, anyways, here is the large women's clear shoe box. $54.95US for a pack of ten. Perfect for any of you who wear something bigger than a size 10 or have some really funky platforms
xoxo
Shoelover
Our guest has finally made it and in typical male fashion, it's late................our clear shoe box for men!!!!
Shoe Stör’s men’s clear shoe boxes are made of polypropylene and measure 13.5" x 8.5" x 5.25" and hold shoes up to size 14 (US & Canada), 13.5 (UK), 48.5 (Europe) & 12.5(Mexico). A 10 pack is $54.95US when purchased from the US website. We will have Canadian and international pricing in a day or so.
Now you can stop tripping over your husband's shoes!

As L'Oreal Fashion Week approaches, Shoelover has been giving serious thoughts to staffing the Shoe Stor display. While Shoelover has been doing Shoelover's best to primp and preen Shoeguy, Shoelover just can't seem to pound an ounce of faux-mo-homo-heteroflexible-metro-sexuality into that boy, even going as far as to hire him a stylist.
So Shoelover, ever the planner, has been looking at contingency plans in the event that Shoeguy just
can't pretty it up. Based on Shoelover's initial thoughts, there are a few potential candidates, each with their strengths and their weaknesses:
Bryanboy - Does one need to say anything after looking at the picture? The main drawback is that he is in the Philippines and well, based on reading his blog, he may be a little moody to work with;
Manolo the Shoeblogger -Engaging personality and excellent knowledge of shoes. The problem is that no one knows what he looks like. For all Shoelover knows Manolo the Shoeblogger could be a real life version of the Jeff "Comic Book Guy" Albertson from the Simpsons or the inspiration for Queer Eye for the Straight guy. Shoelover just doesn't know.
Perez Hilton - any guy who wears a lavender/pink suit is someone who knows how to make an impression. Plus he knows how to work a room. Maybe too well. Would probably have to chain him to the Shoe Stor display to make sure he stays put.

Shoelover
As Labor Day is upon us and the there is only so much fretting one can do about the conundrum of white shoes after Labor Day, Shoelover has decided to philosophized about Shoelover's labors (over a vodka and orange juice at 10 am on a Saturday morning). As anyone who has ever done it knows, running a business of your own is one of the dumbest things greatest challenges you can undertake in life, although probably easier than maintaining a healthy marriage and avoiding the intake of copious amounts of alcohol, Valium, chocolate while getting a business up and running.
So Shoelover would like to share some thoughts on what Shoelover has learned over the past year:
-Write a short business plan, then expect every thing in that business plan to go wrong, then rewrite the business plan, cutting out all of the fluff and focus on picking out the critical factors that could kill your business and come up with ways of dealing with these issues before they arise. Trust Shoelover on this, even what you expect to be the most mundane and simple task can and will go wrong (see the IKEA catalog with the now famous IKEA dog for a prime example of this). Call this "school of thought" being pessimistically optimistic or optimistically pessimistic, let's go with pessimistically optimistic, it sounds better;
-In business, money will solve a lot, not all, but a lot of your problems. Whoever said that money can't buy happiness didn't run a business;
-Listen to your customers (shield your eyes from the blinding flash of the obvious). Your goal is to solve their problems. Lots of management gurus spout this mantra like it is some sort of revelation from god (maybe it is for large companies, but it is obvious for small businesses);
-At the risk of sounding cliche (and opening Shoelover up to some sort of copyright lawsuit), JUST DO IT, don't spend all your time thinking about "DOING IT" as if you were a teenage boy (that may have gone over some of your heads - or may just not be funny). Starting a business and being a responsible person may sometimes be mutually exclusive states. Sometimes the only way to success is pushing boundaries of reason and sensibility;
-Whenever there is a problem, it is your fault. No ifs, ands, ors about it,
-Invest in a lot of antiperspirant and/or deodorant. You are going to do a lot of sweating;
-Exercise; and
-Avoid drinking too much milk, it will make you gassy
xoxo
Shoelover
One of the problems or shall Shoelover say, challenges of being a small business is having little room in the budget (Read this as not a dime) for any professional help, other than what is covered under Shoelover's health care insurance, so Shoelover has to get advice where Shoelover can get it, even if it is in a public venue.
Today it came from the likes of the Cheesehead Wisconsinite at Pajama Market who told Shoelover to "clean up those sidebars"!!!
While typically not one who likes being told what to do, Shoelover decided to listen to someone other than that little voice in Shoelover's head, ignore the urge retort that "unless your name is Hugh Hefner and you don't live in Wisconsin, you really can't pull off working in your pajamas" and do some work on the layout of the blog.
xoxo
Shoelover
As many of Shoelover's international friends know, Shoe Stor has been shipping world wide since the day we opened for business in 2005. And since then, Shoelover has learned a few things:
1. It's much cheap to receive a gift than to give one;
2. 24 hours a day is not enough when you run your own business; and
3. Sometimes the mail does not always get through. And it is on this note Shoelover would like to let you all know about Shoe Stor's international site. All orders placed through this site are shipped world wide via Air Parcel Post, which means that you people down under or across the pond should get your goods in about 10 days. So yes, some of Shoe Stor's pricing has changed, but now you'll all get your boxes much, much faster.
For those of you who live in Canada and the US, there are no changes at all.
xoxo
Shoelover
Just to let you know that all orders are now coming with a great freebie.......clear storage bags. Each order of 10 clear shoe boxes and 5 low boot boxes are coming packed in 20"x26" storage bags that are great for packing clothes for traveling (help prevent wrinkles in clothing) or storing out of season items.

Shoelover
Oh ya, forgot to mention................2 Days to go.
xoxo
Shoelover
So it looks like Shoe Stor is having its coming-out party at L'Oréal Fashionweek (October 16 - 21 2006) in Toronto where they will be showcasing Spring 2007 collections.
The organizers are looking for volunteers, so drop Shoelover a line and we'll see if we can hook ya up.

Lots of goings on behind the scenes at the Stor these days. Shoeguy is in the midst of jury-rigging rolling out our Canadian distribution system. We've had a few SNAFU's a real easy time doing it, but some of you in the Toronto area may get your boxes delivered by a scruffy looking character in sunglasses with a tattoo on his ankle, don't worry, that is Shoeguy, and yes, he is house broken.
We've also added a freebie great new value added product to your clear shoe boxes. All Canadian orders are now being shipped with a great clear plastic storage bag. Shoe Stor will be introducing this little bonus to US and international customers in the very near future. These bags are perfect for out of season sweaters, shirts or items you have stolen borrowed from friends.
xoxo
Shoelover
PS - If anyone out there in the Toronto area is really into fashion, drop Shoelover a line, we may have an fun opportunity for you.
So Shoelover is going about getting some free boxes out to people who signed up for them (yes, the person who sent me a picture of their shoes is getting a box too) and lo and behold, Shoelover comes across the same person signing up 10 times, using 10 different email addresses............shame on you attempting to take advantage of Shoelover's generosity (and don't think I missed you people who signed up 4 or 5 times)!!!
What else does Shoelover find, plenty of people who can't fill in a simple form.........GO BACK TO SCHOOL!
And for the rest of you, slowly, but surely, your free boxes are coming.
So Shoelover was listening to the new release from the New Pornographers, Sing Me Spanish Techno and came up with a brilliant idea, get Shoeguy to come up with a Spanish section of the Shoe Stor site. There must be tons and hundreds and thousands of spanish speaking men and women who love their shoes, but just don't like using english web sites. Seeing as how Shoelover doesn't make much use of too many Spanish, Polish, French or Russian websites, Shoelover can understand the situation. And since Manolo himself is from Spain, it is fitting that Spanish is the first foreign language that Shoe Stor gets up and running (Shoelover will add to it soon).
And so he did - Cajas de zapatos transparentes de Shoe Stör
Shoelover is a hardworking genius.

it looks like Shoelover has done this whole blogging thing all wrong............
Ack, $500,000 a year! Ack, $60,000 a year!!! .........20 bucks a month is more like it
Creationist vs. Evolutionist Marketing ... Shoelover thought we had gotten over this debate with the Scopes Monkey Trial (wait, there's that humor again.........Rats!!!)
and worst of all, someone suggested that Shoelover should stop referring to themselves in the third person. Shoelover thinks this person should shave their goatee, but really, of what relevance is that to the conversation.
xoxo
Shoelover
Big things going on at the Stor, we are opening our second distribution center in........................CANADA! In other words, once up and running, all of our Canadian orders will be filled directly in Canada (in the very near future that is).
Now to answer a few questions that Shoelover often gets about Canada.
1. Is it cold in Canada? Answer: Yes, in winter.
2. Will I have to pay duties on my order? Answer: Nope. There will be no additional fees/charges other than what you see on the website.
4. Will Shoelover's Canadian distribution center be in an igloo? Answer: Yes, yes it will be.
5. Does Shoelover know Dave from Vancouver? Answer: Wow, what a small world, you know him too? Hey do you know Susan from Chicago?
6. How do you feel about Canada allowing homosexuals to marry one another? Answer: Hell, Shoelover thought one of the advantages of being gay was not getting bogged down in all that marriage B.S. Who knew that gay would be the new straight.
7. Has anyone ever told Shoelover that Shoelover tends to stray a bit from the topic of shoes? Answer: Has anyone ever told you to keep your keep your opinions to yourself.

Can a pair of of Manolo's save you money?
Yes, yes it can. And not just because you used someone elses money to buy them for you!
Shoelover is cracking open Shoeguy's wallet and going out to get a pair of Manolo's this month and in honor of the event, Shoe Stor is having a little promotion. If you have purchased a pair of Manolo's in the past few months, enter the discount code "manolo" - all lower case - when you make a purchase at Shoe Stor and save yourself 15% (and don't forget our $9.99 flat rate shipping world wide)

That's right guys and girls, it's time to honor your mother by showing the world the mess that she had to live with! Show us how you exacted revenage on your mother for all of the complexes, hang ups, guilt and anxieties she gave you while growing up............show us the anal expulsive mess she helped create.............show us the mess that is your closet!
