Forgot to mention.  Thanks to RobotJohnny and his bastardized subway map, Shoelover had a bitch of time getting to Shoelover's destination.  Thank God the TTC officials stepped in and saved the day

Way to go after the guy who messed with your map.  I got lost this morning because of it.  I was looking to get off at yonge and bloor but could only find a station named "only - booger".  I hope your lawyers didnt charge you too much to write the letter.

Latte Boots

One of the benefits of living in the Great White North is winter.  OK, well the truth is that there is really only one benefit of winter, the need to own a winter wardrobe, and the accompanying winter shoe and boot collection.

The need for boots becomes especially apparent on a morning like this morning when at 7 am, Shoelover feels compelled to go get a latte.  Not just any latte, but a Jet Fuel latte.  Jet Fuel Coffee is antithesis of Starbucks.  It's cheap (like 3 Canuck-bux for a super giant latte), non-mechanical (no automated "espresso" machines here thank you), non-corporate and each cup of coffee is served with its own special brand of surly-java-love.  Get there early enough and they may have some fresh backed danish and muffins (once they are gone, that is it for the day).  Get there late enough on certain days and you may be lucky to hear about one clerk's random sexual escapades.

Shoelover would make Jet Fuel a part of Shoelover's every day routine except that they only open at 7 am and Shoelover is already at the office by then.

So back to the point of this post.  What do you wear to the Jet Fuel at 7am on a freezing Sunday morning to get a cup of Java enlightenment?  Today Shoelover went with the Koalla from Steve "Jailbird" Madden (in black thank you.  I think Madden had a pair of these in jail house orange, but will have to confirm this).  At about the 155 dollar level, it is well priced and at the mid calf level, it helps keep Shoelover warm when wearing mid thigh skirts to show off the recently acquired suntan (every little bit of coverage counts in sub zero weather you know).

Boxing Day shopping turned tragic up in Toronto yesterday.  Seriously folks, calm the fuck down.  The next time you have the urge to cap someone in the ass, try taking a look in the mirror first.......

Who would have ever thought that a potential driving force for on line shopping would be personal safety.

Anyone ever messes with me and they will get a spike in the forehead faster than you can say "killer shoes babe!"

I spy with my little eye...

Shoelover took Shoeguy shopping today. He insisted on going to the Gap -- I can already hear the collective groan. I know, he's a constant source of disappointment but Shoelover needs him around. Anyway, I put my foot down and agreed to go to the Gap only if it was near some of my favorite stores. I was delighted to pass by Holt Renfrew -- which has gone all out for the Toronto International Film Festival. They  dedicated an entire window to my new favorite, Christian Louboutin. Apparently, Christian is making a personal appearance there next week. I'll check it out and report back.

Actually, I passed Holts indirectly on the way to David's, one of my favorite shoe destinations, since they advertised in today's Globe and Mail that they had a shipment of Louboutins. Their pricing is similar to a pair of Manolos (about C$850). The shoes at Davids were just luscious - that red sole is really attractive. I saw the pair I longed for in an earlier posting.

I'm guessing Christian's appearance is meant to coincide with an exhibit at the Bata Shoe Museum, "Icons of Elegance." According to Economist.com The exhibit will focus on influential shoe designers, including Manolo and Christian and the "art of the stiletto." Can't wait to see all those glorious shoes! What will I wear to it? My favorite Ferragamos?

Used shoes?

Over the weekend, Shoelover decided to peruse some nearby vintage clothing stores. You never know when you will stumble across a great find. One such store featured a pair of D&G sandals that looked brand-spanking-new. They were open-toed with three straps and super-high. Although the summer is waning, I kept staring at them thinking they would work for my winter holiday in Mexico. I decided to forgo the shoes -- partly because I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that they were previously loved and because they were orange, which is not my favorite color. Anyone out there ever buy used designer shoes? Thots? Until later, loves. Keep your toesies beautiful.

The privaleged poor

As I flipped through yesterday's Globe and Mail, I came across a column by Leah McLaren on toenails. After my recent proselyting on proper foot care I was curious to read what she had to say about the topic. Apparently, Leah bruised her toe running for the phone. As much as I empathize with her plight -- the same thing happened to me a few years back and I was forced to get my toe nail removed -- her column, as usual, was irritating. Her feet may very well be her finest quality, or so McLaren muses in her column. But really, is a black toe nail really fodder for an entire column in a national newspaper? Yes, Leah, naked nails may be fashionable but really, boo hoo. Put on some tasteful closed-toed slippers and move on. A true fashionista knows that in order to look good, you must know how to work with your flaws. Please, do not bore us with your icky toe nails stories anymore.
